Forks Table: September 2023

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:24-25

  1. What are some wrong things that people “anchor down” with today? What are some good anchors to drop that we discussed in our sermon series? Share.
  2. Why should God’s Church be a House of Love? Why do we need a Church family? Why is unity so important in every area of your life? Read Psalm 133:1-2: How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.
  3. What did Jesus say that His food was in John 4:34 (“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.)? What are some “good deeds” that our church tries to do? What are some ways that you can serve others?
  4. Why is commitment to the Lord and His Church so important? Why were some not in the habit of meeting? What was the model of the early church in Acts 2:42-47 (They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.)? Discuss how we can continue to encourage one another as we “see the Day approaching”?
