A Season of Light and Love

One of our awesome Church members, Jim Miller, stopped me after the Sunday service following Thanksgiving. Jim and his sweet wife Louise had recently gone to visit family in another state over Thanksgiving. The Millers, while there, had gone to Church with their family. It is a large Church. Jim was kind and honest about his visit to the Church. He shared with me, in his unique and loving voice, “The Church was dark, I like that we have windows and it is light. They have praise teams that do a great job, but not only do we have praise teams, but we also have a beautiful Choir that does a great job!” He went on to compliment their Pastor and then was gracious enough to say nice things about this Pastor. What Jim was trying to say was that he and Louise love their Church, our Church, God’s Church. I do as well!

As we enter the Christmas season, we think about the bright light that shone when Jesus was born. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; in those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” (Isaiah 8:12). Jesus said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

We think about the angelic hosts singing and praising God. “Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” We will experience so much glorious music over the Christmas season. Won’t you come worship with all of our choirs as they lead with their beautiful music?

We think about the shepherds who spread the word about this great gift of God’s love. “When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this Child” (Luke 2:17). Shepherds (ministers) still proclaim His message today!

Won’t you join us for all of our wonderful Christmas services (see schedule below) as we celebrate the light of Christ, listen to the angelic music, and be led by the messages of God’s hope, peace, joy and love! Thanks Jim!
